What Is a Glass Spigot and How Is It Used?

Glass spigots are the fixing that holds frameless glass balustrade panels. Learn the common types, mounting methods and where they are used.

A glass spigot is a small but critical piece of glass railing hardware: a styled block, usually stainless steel, that clamps the bottom edge of a frameless glass panel and holds it upright without a top rail or post frame.

Where glass spigots are used

They are the standard fixing for frameless glass balustrades on balconies, pool fences, staircases and terraces — anywhere a clear, uninterrupted view is wanted.

Common types

  • Deck-mount (top-mount) spigot: fixed to the top surface of the floor or deck.
  • Facia-mount (side-mount) spigot: fixed to the side of a structural edge, useful when floor thickness is limited.
  • Aluminium spigot: lighter and naturally corrosion-resistant, often used in pool and marine environments.

What to specify

Spigots must match the glass thickness (commonly 10–13.52 mm laminated or toughened glass) and the expected line load. Always confirm the glass type, panel height and fixings with the structural requirement before ordering.

We supply stainless steel and aluminium glass spigots from our production base in Taizhou, Jiangsu, with custom finishes and dimensions available against drawings.
